It all began with climbing trees as a kid, since then I have always had a passion for tree.
I decided to pursue my passion and hobby by hunting down the best place to learn and find an inspirational teacher.
That’s when I found Stourhead, National Trust, and found Alan Power head gardener of Stourhead. He took me on, trained me and taught me everything I know.
My Name is Joe Ashman and I became The Tree Guy in 2012. I chose this name due to everyone at Stourhead always saying ‘Hey, its the tree guy!’. This was mainly because people kept forgetting my name but it ended up sticking.
Since working for the National Trust between 2009 - 2012. I am still a contractor for them now and love working with them.
It’s great to be apart of historic gardens across the country and working on the conservation/preservation side of things.
Working on veteran trees and helping to manage them is what I love best.
I have lots of large properties and estates that I manage. However I am always happy to take on any type of tree care and work for anyone that needs my help.
